What the policy did

Loi n° 75-17 du 17 janvier 1975 relative à l'interruption volontaire de grossesse legalised abortion up to 10 weeks (later 12). Landmark social-liberal reform of Giscard presidency. Initially voted for five-year trial period; made permanent 1979. Did not affect economic axes directly but anchors the social-liberal content in the Giscard movement.
