What the policy did

Peres-government implementation of the Oslo II Interim Agreement: Israeli redeployment from six West Bank cities (Nov-Dec 1995), PA legislative-council elections 20 January 1996, and handover of Area-A civil and security functions. Implementation was disrupted by the February-March 1996 Hamas bus-bombing wave which shifted Israeli median voter preferences.
