What the policy did

From 1 January 2022 the UAE shifted its official weekend from Friday- Saturday to Saturday-Sunday (with Friday a half-day for the federal government), aligning working weeks with global financial centres. The switch was framed as a competitiveness measure for finance, trade and services.
