World-first generational tobacco ban prohibiting tobacco sale to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009, alongside sharp retailer reduction (from ~6,000 to ~600) and a denicotinisation requirement for remaining tobacco products. Repealed by the Luxon coalition in February 2024 before the retailer and denicotinisation provisions took effect.
