The UAE hosted COP28 in Dubai (30 November-13 December 2023) under presidency of Sultan Al Jaber (ADNOC CEO and Masdar chairman). The outcome text, branded the UAE Consensus, for the first time called on parties to transition away from fossil fuels and tripled renewable capacity and doubled efficiency targets by 2030. Launched a Loss and Damage Fund with initial pledges.
